Processing of bank loans are still being carried out during Movement Control Order

March 31, 2020

Kuala Lumpur, Tuesday, 31 March 2020 – As the nation is observing the Movement Control Order (MCO) which has taken effect since 18 March 2020, essential services such as banking have continued to serve the community in facilitating the requirements and needs of bank customers. Our member banks have remained steadfast and committed to assist bank customers, whether they are individuals, the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) or Corporates.

The Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) would like to assure members of the public that essential banking services of our member banks which include the processing and approving of loans will continue to be made available while the nation is observing the MCO. However, we seek the understanding of bank customers that despite the availability of banking services during the MCO, the processing time for loan applications may experience some delays as certain services that are crucial in the evaluation and approval of loan applications, are currently experiencing service disruptions in view of the MCO.

We also wish to notify bank customers that the processing of loan applications is currently being carried out remotely during the MCO to ease any backlogs and delays in order to ensure the priorities and needs of bank customers’ are addressed accordingly.

Additionally, due to the high volume of calls and emails received by member banks during this period there may also be delays in answering calls or in email responses provided by Customer Contact Centers.
