Kuala Lumpur, Wednesday, 23 January 2019 – In conjunction with the coming Chinese New Year celebrations, The Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) would like to state that banknotes, comprising of a mixture of new and quality fit banknotes, will be made available at branches of our member banks. The utilisation of quality fit banknotes during the festivities is part of the national ‘Go Green’ initiative which is championed by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) since 2013 and is supported by our member banks. This ‘Go Green’ initiative is aimed at promoting sustainability and conserving the environment.

As an alternative to using cash/physical banknotes, members of the public are encouraged to use electronic ang-pow (e-angpow) which are offered by some of our member banks. E-angpows can be conveniently sent to loved ones both near and far using your internet or mobile banking account.
