Kuala Lumpur, Tuesday, 7 March 2023 – With the worsening floods in several states in Malaysia, The Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) and its member banks remain committed towards assisting customers who have been affected by the recent floods around the country.
ABM member banks have in place specific, accessible and compassionate flood relief assistance for their customers who have been impacted by the floods. The assistance offered is based on customised programmes by individual banks and may include (but are not limited to) deferment of repayment of loans/financing, waiver of fees and charges to replace lost/damaged bank documents and bank cards, and more.
ABM wishes to advise customers who are in flood affected areas to refer to their respective banks for announcements on suggested approach and application process for flood relief assistance. Prominent notifications and announcements on flood relief assistance will be posted on the banks’ various channels including at branches, websites and social media.
As part of emergency flood preparations to ensure operations remain unaffected, ABM member banks have also implemented various measures to ensure that basic and convenient banking services remain available to flood affected customers. Notices will be put up at affected branches as well as the banks’ websites informing customers of the nearest alternative bank branch to carry out their banking.
Flood affected customers who require assistance are advised to contact their banks directly. A list of contact details for ABM member banks can be obtained from ABM’s website via www.abm.org.my.
