Kuala Lumpur, 22 October 2026: The Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) wishes to reaffirm its member banks’ commitment to support families of those affected by the landslide incident in Nepal, which includes repayment deferments and flexible arrangements to ease the financial commitments of their missing loved ones.
Such assistance has already been rolled out since early October 2026, and respective banks have reached out to the family of the affected victims.
We recognise the profound distress and uncertainty faced by the families and next of kin. Their welfare remains our priority, and we appreciate the efforts of all parties working to secure appropriate support for them.
To facilitate access to assistance, member banks have designated contact persons to guide affected next of kin, coordinate their requests and assist with the necessary documentation and administrative processes.
ABM and its member banks remain committed to working constructively with BNM and all relevant parties to support the affected families with care, compassion and respect.
