The Association of Banks In Malaysia (ABM) Hosts Banco Nacional de Comércio de Timor-Leste executives for an “Insights into The Association of Banks in Malaysia” Visit-

On the 26th of February 2025, ABM hosted a study visit from Banco Central de Timor-Leste (Central Bank of Timor-Leste or BCTL) comprising 6 senior executives, accompanied by 3 IFC – International Finance Corporation representatives.

The visit was initiated by IFC as a capacity-building project for Timor-Leste’s financial sector. One component of this project involves establishing a national training institute for banking and finance in the country. To gain insights into best practices and potential challenges, the IFC has been facilitating knowledge-sharing sessions between the BCTL and other regional central bank-affiliated training institutions.

BCTL participants from the visit aimed to explore the Malaysian banking industry’s future roadmap, understand how technology and innovation were being adapted within the banking sector and discover potential collaboration opportunities with ABM.

ABM looks forward to building more collaborations with BCTL and IFC in the near future.

The session was indeed very productive and fruitful for all the delegates, who came away with a much better overall understanding of ABM’s role, strategic pillars and key areas of collaboration.
