The Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) was honoured to engage with YB Dato’ Indera Mohd Shahar Abdullah, Deputy Minister of Economy, and officials from the Ministry of Economy (MoE) on 16 July 2026. The engagement was attended by Datuk Shahril Azuar Jimin, Chairman of the ABM ESG Committee, Dr Amina Kayani, Executive Director of ABM, and representatives from ABM. The engagement provided a valuable platform to exchange views on Malaysia’s sustainability agenda and the important role of the banking industry in supporting the nation’s sustainable and inclusive economic transition.

Datuk Shahril Azuar Jimin presented the banking industry’s perspectives and key ESG developments during the engagement. ABM remains committed to supporting the Ministry’s ongoing initiatives and looks forward to further engagement and collaboration in advancing Malaysia’s sustainability agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including exploring ways in which the banking industry can continue to support Malaysia’s transition journey.

Together, through strong public-private collaboration, we can continue to accelerate Malaysia’s transition towards a more sustainable, resilient and inclusive economy.
