Data is divinely important when it comes to analysis and quality reporting. Malaysia's monthly press release on trade performance is made public to showcase the nation's achievements and resilience. With this disclosure, it is also a way to promote Malaysia as a trustworthy trading partner and competitive exporting nation. In line with transparency and international development, at the recent World Trade Organization Trade policy review on Malaysia in Feb 2023, members of WTO commended Malaysia for its resilient economic growth and long-term development trajectory. Members appreciated Malaysia's commitment to rules-based multilateral trading system. Members encouraged Malaysia to participate in the JSI on Services Domestic Regulation, the work of the Trade and Environmental Sustainability Structured Discussions (TESSD). In the sustainability journey, data is also important. It allows one to identify information that is significant to development and track performance so that actions can be taken to address gaps and/or continue right path. The UOB Business Outlook Study 2023 (SME & Large Enterprises) found that 83% of businesses are keen to expand overseas, but face challenges such as finding the right partners, lack of in-house talent and inadequate legal and regulatory compliance and tax support. The Study, which surveyed over 4,000 businesses in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Mainland China and Hong Kong SAR, also uncovered insights on overall business sentiment, the impact of inflation, supply chain management and more. Interesting to see that #Digitalisation was still at its infancy stage pre-pandemic; and in 2023, at least 9 out of 10 SMEs have adopted digital in at least one areas of their businesses, whereas 7 out of 10 already found considerable success through digitalisation. When I taught infographic in Data Storytelling, I always highlight the issue of colour in producing infographic. Use less colours if you are not well versed in design. There is nothing wrong even with just 1 colour in your infographic (excluding white and black). Uniqlo does that in many of their posters. And the below from UOB is also a rather good example of using less colour.
