After it was launched in October 2020, 112 entrepreneurs from the B40 community have benefited from the CIMB MicroBizReady Programme in collaboration with Taylor's Community. The series of workshops are specially curated to upskill micro SME owners from the B40 community with sound financial and digitalisation knowledge and tools, while providing them access to mentorships free of charge. The participants came from the food and beverage, catering, retail and services industries comprising general business owners, women entrepreneurs and Asnaf community aged 20 – 60 years old. We aim to conclude the programme this year with a session for the differently abled and to exceed our earlier target of 120 participants. Together with our partners, INCEIF, The Global University of Islamic Finance and EasyStore, CIMB Bank and CIMB Islamic will continue to provide value to our SME customers and assist them to be resilient during this pandemic and beyond. #CIMBForward

We are thrilled to share with you some exciting developments from the recent ASEAN Central Bank Governors’ & FI CEOs’ Dialogue and other meeting sessions which were held in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR on 3 April 2024 and 4 April 2024. As the national banking association flag bearer, ABM attended this esteemed regional gathering and is delighted to report the active engagement and contribution towards shaping the future of banking within ASEAN. Together, ASEAN country delegates immersed themselves in the discussions, networking opportunities, and collaborative sessions aimed at fostering closer ties and advancing common objectives across the banking industry. Throughout the two-day event, the primary focus was to ensure our active participation in every session invited, underscoring ABM’s commitment to playing a pivotal role in regional banking growth, pushing boundaries, raising the bar in addressing perpetual challenges and driving collective thought leadership with the industry. Malaysia’s strength and dynamism of banking sector was showcased during a Panel session across 4 Central Governors i.e. the Joint Bank of Laos - IMF High-Level Seminar and during the Roundtable Dialogue session between ASEAN Central Bank Governors and FI CEOs also reinforced our position as a key player within the ASEAN community. This is imperative to keep paving the way for future collaborations and mutual growth across ASEAN. In the spirit of capturing the essence of this momentous occasion, we documented our journey through a series of photographs, preserving the memories and milestones that marked ABM’s participation. These visuals will serve as a testament to our commitment and dedication as we continue to champion Malaysia’s interests on the regional stage. Lao PDR was a remarkable host to the attendees, making the entire experience comfortable and meaningful. Looking ahead, we are proud to announce that Malaysia will host the next ASEAN Banking Council Meeting, under the auspices of the ASEAN Bankers Association, in December 2024 along with the association’s 50th anniversary celebration. This presents a golden opportunity for us to further showcase our leadership, expertise, and hospitality to our ASEAN counterparts. As we prepare for this prestigious event, let us reaffirm our resolve to elevate Malaysia’s banking sector and fly our nation’s flag high on the international stage.
