We had an amazing day at Manila. We kicked off our transformational day with warm welcomes and refreshing starts at the Makati Shangri-La Manila and I opened the event with some iof our thoughts on the future of transaction banking in ASEAN. A great start to an engaging day!   Snippets of some of the important sessions, in the first half: 1.    Fireside chat with Steven Beck, Head of Trade & SCF at ADB - Building Resilience & Sustainability in Trade & Supply Chains - an in-depth exploration into the critical roles of sustainability and digitalization in trade finance, providing enlightening perspectives on driving essential change. 2.    Business panel discussion – Carlo Nazareno, Head of Transaction Banking and Trade and SCF at Banco de Oro, Chippi Orlino, Head of TB from Metrobank and Pamela Edejer, Head of Trade and SCF at Security Bank Corporation Bank – session covered importance of convergence across cash, trade and supply chains. The importance of digital play in Philippines in this space, need for speedy changes to governance to enable safe and faster business environment and also the importance of ESG 3. Security Bank Corporation Bank’s transformation strategy and journey – Lucose Eralil, COO SBC, spoke about using the best of breed products and services aligned to their journey of launching a unified and differentiated CX across corporate, retail and SME segments – first of its kind in Philippines and globally too from a timeline perspective 4. Some really insightful thoughts from Basudev Banerjee from Microsoft, with the work being done from a Co-polot perspective @iGTB More to follow.... It’s time for collaboration, not always competition ! We believe that collaboration is the best approach to expand a business, especially in areas where we may not have strong presence. Last week we signed an MOU with PERBARINDO (Indonesian Association of Rural Banks) – JABODETABEK to develop the retail lending business. We begin this collaboration with 10 rural banks (BPR) in Jabodetabek area before we implement it to other BPR-rural banks. We understand that BPR as ‘a community bank’ historically have strong presence and strong relationships with their community. This has become their strong value proposition which we can now leverage on. This collaboration with BPRs - PERBARINDO was initiated through Mitra Jasa Lima – an IT platform provider for BPRs.
