Kuala Lumpur, Friday, 31 March 2017 - The Association of Banks in Malaysia wishes to inform all motorists that with immediate effect all outdoor payment terminals at petrol stations have been upgraded to require PIN entry when making payments with debit, credit, charge or prepaid cards. All cardholders will therefore need to key in their 6-digit PIN to complete transactions at the outdoor payment terminals.

Cardholders who have not replaced their signature-based cards or have not selected or forgotten their PIN are advised to go to the payment counter in the petrol station to make payment.

From 1 July 2017, signature will no longer be accepted as verification for payments made with credit, debit, charge or prepaid cards. Cardholders are urged to contact their card issuers as soon as possible if they have not received their new PIN-enabled cards or to select a 6-digit PIN in the event they have not done so already or have forgotten their PIN.
