AFTER it was affected by floods, rural school SJK (C) Lee Min needed a new canteen roof, new classroom doors and a dedicated smart classroom.

Thankfully OCBC Bank (M) Bhd’s operations and technology staff came to the aid of the school in Telok Gong, Port Klang in Selangor.

Not only did the staff donate RM45,000 to fund the upgrading exercise, 130 of them helped to paint and clean the school’s compound.

SJK (C) Lee Min headmistress Tan Pik Lai said the canteen roof was in dire need of replacement while several classrooms needed an upgrade.

“Our canteen is used daily by all 140 pupils, so it is essential to have the roof replaced for their as well as the teachers’ safety.

“The flood earlier this year affected us badly and we were at a loss as to how to get moving again,” she said.

“We are grateful to OCBC Bank staff.

“They not only assisted in arranging the renovations but also painted and cleaned the school compound.

“We are also so pleased to have a dedicated smart classroom with proper computer and electronic equipment,” said Tan.

OCBC Bank chief operating officer Lim Yau Seong said, “We are pleased to have played our little part to help the community.

“The main aim was to ensure the pupils continue with their education in a conducive environment.”
