Credit Card Delivery Options Continually Reviewed For Better Security
Kuala Lumpur, Thursday, 14 April 2011:- The Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) wishes to state that save and except for a small number of its commercial bank members, the majority of them which are card issuers use the courier services to deliver the credit cards to the cardholders.
As an important security measure, all credit cardholders are in any event required to call their respective banks to activate their credit cards before transactions can be made using the same.
In addition, card issuers have their own fraud monitoring systems to detect any suspicious transactions and will contact the cardholder directly to verify transactions which are out of the normal spending patterns.
“Our members are committed to working closely with the police to eradicate or minimize fraud. While banks/card issuers continue to step up security measures, members of the banking public are advised to exercise due care at all times and to alert their respective bank/card issuer immediately in the event they suspect that their credit cards have been tampered with,” said Chuah Mei Lin, ABM’s Executive Director.
